How can we help you?
We welcome all of your enquiries regarding our dental clinic.
We realise that choosing a dental clinic for your family's needs is an important decision, and we are honoured that you are considering our dental practice for your family's dentistry. Some of the most common questions we receive are listed below. If you do not see yours here, telephone us and we will be happy to assist.
At CDK Dental, we treat patients as individuals. As a result, there is no one answer to this question because it depends on your current oral health, your dental history, and whether you have a history of periodontal disease.
As a general rule, we recommend at least two professional dental cleanings each year for healthy patients. These cleanings include a periodontal exam to determine any signs of infection, a scale of the teeth, a polish to remove surface stains and tartar, and also any hygiene instruction necessary for you to get the most out of your home care.
For patients who have a history of gum disease, we may recommend more frequent hygiene appointments to control the infection and protect your health. This is also recommended for patients who develop tartar more quickly than others or who have limited dexterity due to arthritis.
Even if you brush and floss your teeth regularly at home, it is normal to develop tartar in hard-to-reach places that require a professional cleaning to remove. You dental hygiene visits will remove tartar and give you a fresh clean start for your smile.
If you have missed a few dental visits, we can help you get back on track to good oral health.
Preventive and diagnostic dentistry is the cornerstone to a healthy smile. Part of that includes a comprehensive oral exam with Dr Karikios. He can identify many conditions visually; however, not every dental problem can be detected with the naked eye alone as your teeth are covered by protective enamel.
Dental x-rays allow Dr Karikios to see what is happening beneath the surface of your teeth and gums. This can include dental decay, bone loss, fractures, and certain cysts or tumours.
At CDK Dental, we use digital x-rays for improved resolution, versatility and safety. Digital x-rays emit up to 80% less radiation than traditional radiographs and are stored digitally, making them accessible for comparison over time.
Each type of x-ray serves a different purpose, and we recommend x-rays based on your oral health history and any treatment you may have planned.
Digital x-rays provide the added benefit of being easily enhanceable, which helps make early diagnoses possible.
If you have questions regarding the safety or necessity of dental x-rays, please feel free to enquire. We will be happy to share information about protecting your oral health and how dental x-rays contribute to your preventive dentistry.
